About NIDS Focus

NIDS Focus is a coalition of civil society groups and individuals collaborating with the GOJ to develop a rights-based, people-centric national ID project.

We represent a range of local, regional and international life experiences and expertise in law, computer science and human rights. We have come together to:

Review the NIDS bill from a variety of perspectives;
Seek out advice and literature on best practices and lessons learnt from identification systems in other jurisdictions;
Contribute to public education about NIDS and the implications of the NIRA Bill;
Provide considered, evidence-backed recommendations for strengthening the NIDS system while respecting individual rights and real-world situations.
